Welcome to the JISC Monitoring Unit’s new web site, which was quietly launched just after New Year 2010.
Those frequent users of our web site and resources will spot quite a few changes, not least of which is the new design complete with a new logo. We’re still busy developing the back end of the site to enable our massive collection of data to be more easily interrogated by those outside of the Monitoring Unit itself.
Our collection of reports has been copied over from the old site, so we hope that you’ll find everything you need here. If you are looking for “reported data” for each of the monitored services then you should currently refer to the appendices of our previous reports (they’re in the Analysis & Reports section). We’ll be providing more tools so that you can access the information direct within your web browser over the coming months.
If you’re looking for service “trend data” then you should refer to our new quarterly reports. Up to three years’ trend (both for performance and usage) is included for every service in the portfolio. Again, we’ll be providing tools to allow you to directly interrogate this information.
Our old web site used tags in a few locations, primarily related to organisations and their group memberships. (We’re still in the process of tidying up a few of the tags so please bear with us.) This new site extends the capability and we’re currently looking at enabling tagging for all authenticated users of the site.
It’s not necessary to login to access data or reports on our web site; all of our reports are published in the public domain so you aren’t missing anything by not logging in.
Chances are, if you try logging in (via the UK Access Management Federation) the process will fail but that doesn’t mean something’s broken. If you know you should have enhanced access then please let us know you’re having problems.
If you have any problems with the new site, can’t find something you’re looking for, or perhaps have a feature request then please contact us.
