JISC anticipates adding three new services into the EDINA Service Level Agreement (SLA) in 2008/09: NewsFilm Online (NFO), GeoCrossWalk and Go-Geo. Some registration data were reported for NFO this quarter and it is hoped performance and usage data will become available in the next couple of quarters.
Index to the Times data are no longer reported to the Monitoring Unit. This service was endorsed but not funded by JISC and as of 1st September 2008 EDINA ceased provision of the service. The Times Digital Archive is available to UK HE and FE through JISC Collections.
Landmap and Hairdressing Training both launched new web sites this quarter.
A number of changes were made to Copac this quarter including: Google spidering of data and persistent identifiers for individual records.
Service performance is assessed on the basis of a 12 month rolling average where possible.
Mimas met all of their service levels (SLs) this quarter.
The Monitoring Unit reports on 17 availability measurements over the nine monitored EDINA services; two of these have less than 12 month’s data. At the end of this quarter, of the 15 measurements for which the Monitoring Unit can calculate a 12 month rolling average availability, one was slightly below the SL of 99%: Digimap OS Collection – Carto had 12 month availability of 98.99%.
For the seven Mimas services that the Monitoring Unit report on there are eight availability measurements. At the end of the quarter, all Mimas services for which the Monitoring Unit can calculate a 12 month rolling average availability had availability above the SL of 99%.
All other services monitored had 12 month rolling availability above their SLs at the end of the quarter.
All 12 month rolling availability measurements for machines for all services were above their respective SL at the end of the quarter.
All 12 month rolling availability LAN SLs were met at the end of the quarter.
No service exceeded the annual allowance for scheduled downtime for 2008/09 (624 minutes per academic year).
The following services had on average less than 99% of response times below five seconds for a 12 month period ending in October 2008:
EDINA – SUNCAT 98.36%.
EDINA – FSOL 92.21%. Although over 99% of response times this quarter did take less than five seconds.
All Film and Sound Online (FSOL) start to load times this quarter were five seconds or less (SL 99%). However, due to longer start to load times in previous quarters the 12 month rolling average was below the SL at the end of quarter (92%).
The PI for 100% of enquiries to receive an initial response within one working day was not met for one enquiry to TASI in October and five enquiries to ESDS over the quarter.
The 12 month rolling PI for 98% of enquiries to receive a response within 20 working days was not met for SARS or CeLSIUS at Census at the end of the quarter. However, it is of note that these services receive an overall small number of enquiries each quarter and so even if one enquiry takes longer than 20 working days the recorded performance can be affected significantly.
All other service levels were met this quarter.
