Full funding by AHRC and JISC for AHDS ceased on 31st March 2008. JISC have agreed additional funding to keep the web site available for a further year and to maintain the cross-search catalogue. The Monitoring Unit received limited usage data for February and March and all monitoring ceased in April.
The maps created from Digimap OS Collections - Classic are now available in PNG format replacing the GIF format previously used. The change took place at the beginning of 2007/08 Q1, but the Monitoring Unit were informed this quarter.
EDINA launched the Marine Digimap service in January. Data for the service have been provided for the first time this quarter.
The Landmap TopSat agreement ended on 25th February. A new agreement was signed with The GeoInformation Group to enable provision of the ‘The Cities Revealed’ datasets.
The English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC) can now be cross-searched from the main Copac interface.
The following sections detail all instances where Performance Indicators (PIs) were not met or performance was below snapshot levels.
The monthly availability information below is given as a snapshot of performance during this quarter. Monthly availability rates below an annual PI do not constitute a failure to meet the PI. Only if the average availability over 12 months is below the PI can a service be deemed not to have met a target; this in itself may not indicate that service provision was unsatisfactory.
The Monitoring Unit reports on 18 availability measurements over the eleven monitored EDINA services; three of these have less then 12 months data. At the end of this quarter, of the 15 measurements for which the Monitoring Unit can calculate a 12 month rolling average availability, none were below the PI of 99% (1 last quarter).
Two services had individual monthly availabilities below the PI snapshot this quarter:
For the seven Mimas services that the Monitoring Unit report on there are eight availability measurements. At the end of the quarter, all Mimas services for which the Monitoring Unit can calculate a 12 month rolling average availability, had availability above the PI of 99%.
All Mimas services had individual monthly availabilities above the PI snapshot (99%) this quarter.
All other services monitored had availability above their PIs in every month this quarter.
All machine availability PIs were met this quarter by all services.
All LAN availability PIs were met this quarter by all services.
The following service had some response times that were not five seconds or less (PI 99% unless otherwise stated):
Following a period of high response times in 2007/08 Q1, FSOL response times returned to expected levels thoughout Q2 and Q3. There were less than 0.25% of response times above 5 seconds in any month of this quarter.
FSOL had some start to load times that were not five seconds or less (PI 99%). On average 5.2% of start to load per month were more than 5 seconds.
The PI for 100% of enquiries to receive an initial response within 1 working day was not met for one enquiry to TASI in February (96%) and one enquiry to SARS in February (80%).
The PI for 98% of enquiries to receive a response within 20 working days was not met by Mimas in April when 4% of enquiries did not receive a response within 20 working days. However, it is of note that the 12 month rolling average percentage of enquiries with a response within 20 working days was 98.59% at the end of the quarter.
All the remaining resolution PIs by services were met this quarter.
The following tables show the percentage change in use for each service covered in this report over a period of three academic years. Please note comparison between services cannot be inferred.
