The JISC Monitoring Unit - funded by JISC and reporting to the Service Relationship Management Group within JISC - supports JISC policy and planning by providing a quality assurance role in monitoring the performance and use of JISC services.
Within the framework of an Operating Statement agreed with JISC we monitor JISC's network infrastructure (the JANET network provided by JANET(UK)) and networked content services by collecting and analysing data submitted from each of the funded service providers. Reports on performance against the defined service levels are produced quarterly. Annually the Unit collates materials to feed into JISC's portfolio review process. Further analyses are carried out ad-hoc as required by JISC.
Service level documents established between JISC and its service providers are lodged with the Unit and administration of any updates (including the organisations receiving JISC funded primary connections to JANET) are managed under the appropriate Change Control procedures. Furthermore the Unit's staff are involved in the annual negotiations of future service levels across the portfolio.
This web site provides access to the Monitoring Unit's reports to JISC as well as background information on each JISC-funded organisation connected to JANET and the funded JISC Services (both current and historical).

The JISC Monitoring Unit is a sub-division of the Information Services department at the University of Kent.
